Piazza del Campidoglio

On the Capitoline hill is the Campidoglio, a small but beautifully formed square laid out to a design by Michelangelo. The Piazza is home to the Capitoline Museums and overlooks the Forum.

Things to See

After admiring the statue of Marcus Aurelius in the centre of the square (actually a replica of the original, which you'll find in the museums), head to the right-hand building to purchase your ticket for the Capitoline Museums.

Getting There

The Capitoline hill is right in the centre of Rome. The nearest metro stations are Cavour and Colosseo on Linea B.
