Ciampino Airport
Officially known as Giovan Battista Pastine Airport, Ciampino is Rome's second airport. It's actually a military airport that's also been opened up to commercial traffic. It's smaller than Fiumicino, and if you're coming from Europe, this is where the low budget carriers like Easyjet and Ryanair will bring you. Unlike Fiumicino, Ciampino doesn't have its own railway station, so you need to either take a coach into Rome or a bus to the nearest station.
Getting to and from Rome
Terravision (www.terravision.it) run a regular coach service between Ciampino airport and the centre of Rome - the coaches stop near Termini station. It costs €8 single / €13.50 return or €4,50/€7,50 for children under twelve. Alternatively, you can take a bus to Ciampino rail station (€1) and from there a train to Termini (€2). Both routes take approximately forty minutes.
Taxis from Ciampino Airport
If you want to take a taxi to or from Ciampino airport, there is now a fixed rate of €30 in place. This rate covers baggage and up to four passengers, and applies only to journeys between the airport and the centre of Rome (defined as the area inside the Aurelian walls). Remember that only official taxi cabs licensed by the city of Rome are obliged to honour the fixed rate. The official information about the fixed rate is on the Comune di Roma website.
